Katharine Davison is one of our dedicated Counsellors at York Therapy Clinic, specialising in an integrative approach to therapy and counselling. Katharine is committed to assisting people in overcoming a wide range of problems.
With a focus on integrative therapy and counselling, Katharine works with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, and low self-esteem. She brings extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and neurodivergent clients, ensuring a supportive and inclusive approach to counselling.
Katharine utilises a variety of therapeutic approaches including person-centred counselling, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic attachment. By tailoring her methods to each client’s unique needs, she empowers them to overcome difficulties and achieve a greater sense of well-being.

Katharine’s qualifications include an FdA in Counselling and a BA in Therapeutic Counselling from Teesside University, coupled with over 400 hours of counselling practice. Moreover, Katharine is trained and experienced in working with a diverse range of difficulties within the context of neurodiversity.

Katharine’s path to counselling was ignited by a profound passion for emotional well-being and a belief in the transformative power individuals can harness with the appropriate support.
Motivated by her own life experiences and witnessing the emotional struggles of those close to her, Katharine entered into the field of counselling. Through this exploration, she gained invaluable insights into the significance of the therapeutic relationship in fostering positive change and helping heal psychological wounds.
Drawing from her background, Katharine actively contributes to the counselling community through her volunteer work as a counsellor for a CIC company. Additionally, her experience with LGBTQ+ counselling reflects her dedication to providing inclusive and affirming support to everyone.
Furthermore, Katharine’s commitment to the field extends to her role as a part-time Counselling Lecturer for Teesside University and the Education Training Collective.
In this capacity, she shares her expertise and passion for counselling, nurturing the next generation of compassionate and skilled therapists.
