About Helen Rowe (EMDR Therapist for York Therapy Clinic)
Helen Rowe is one of our skilled and compassionate EMDR therapists at York Therapy Clinic, offering trauma-informed support for adults, children, and young people.
With a professional background in psychotherapy, counselling, and special educational needs (SEND), Helen specialises in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support individuals dealing with trauma and PTSD, anxiety, and complex emotional difficulties.
Helen draws on her experience in child and adolescent psychotherapy, adult trauma counselling, and creative therapy techniques to provide tailored and holistic care that supports long-term healing and emotional resilience.

Helen has completed full EMDR Europe Accredited Training, equipping her with advanced clinical knowledge in processing trauma and supporting recovery.
She is also a qualified child and adolescent psychotherapist and a trauma-trained counsellor for both adults and young people. Helen also holds a qualification as a SEND teacher and manager and brings extensive knowledge from working within specialist care and education.

In addition to direct client work, Helen has supported school-based mental health initiatives and CAMHS clusters across Leeds, providing therapy for children and adolescents who may otherwise struggle to access traditional services.
As well as offering face to face EMDR in York, Helen is also an associate lecturer in psychology and counselling at the Open University and a trainer at the Ellesmere Psychotherapy Centre in Hull.
She delivers CPD training for professionals in creative therapy methods and is actively involved in the training of future child psychotherapists. Her specialist areas include infant observation and the use of creative skills in therapy with children and young people.
