Experience and Professional Background
Suzy has extensive experience working as an associate counsellor across North Yorkshire, offering counselling to children, young people, and adults. She also volunteers with a charity, providing therapy for adults facing a range of mental health difficulties.
Her professional background spans more than 11 years of working in nurturing and supportive roles with children and families.
This long-standing experience has equipped her with a deep understanding of the pressures of day-to-day life, and the emotional challenges people face at different life stages.
Suzy’s approach is rooted in Humanistic Counselling, where the relationship between client and counsellor is at the centre of the work.
By creating a safe and authentic therapeutic environment, Suzy empowers clients to explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace, fostering growth, resilience, and self-acceptance.
Personal Journey into Counselling
Suzy’s journey into counselling was shaped by her personal and family experiences. Raising a family with diverse needs inspired her to develop a deeper understanding of mental health, resilience, and the power of supportive relationships.
She also brings her lived experience of navigating life’s challenges into her work, allowing her to connect with authenticity and empathy.
Her time working in schools and with families facing trauma further motivated her to train as a counsellor, combining her natural compassion with her professional skills to provide a safe and empowering therapeutic space.
