Her experience includes working with complex presentations and managing risk in an Adult Mental Health Service.
In addition, Helen has worked within the community, providing low-cost therapy through a city centre counselling charity. She supported clients with a wide variety of issues, from school-refusal and grief to low self-esteem, complex trauma, and general anxiety.
For the past few years, Helen has been in private practice, where she incorporates EMDR therapy in York, and she is currently pursuing accreditation in this approach.
Journey to Counselling Psychology
Helen’s journey into psychology was inspired by her early career as an Occupational Psychologist, where supporting individuals with disabilities and stress to find employment sparked a deep interest in therapeutic work.
Her personal experiences with therapy, combined with a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, led her to pursue qualifications in Counselling Psychology.
Drawn to psychology and therapy’s balance of professional scientific evidence and compassionate care, Helen is passionate about providing an environment where clients feel truly supported as they work through life’s challenges to feel better and stay well for longer.
