About Ariyana Reddy (Clinical Psychologist for York Therapy Clinic)
Ariyana Reddy is one of our Clinical Psychologists at York Therapy Clinic, working with children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of emotional, psychological, and health-related difficulties.
She works with anxiety (including GAD, health anxiety, OCD, and phobias), depression, low self-esteem, stress, bereavement, and trauma & PTSD. Her work also extends to those struggling with life transitions, relationship difficulties, body image concerns, chronic illness and pain, and ADHD and autism.
Alongside her private practice, she works within the NHS supporting people living with long-term health conditions and the psychological challenges that can accompany them.
Clinical Psychologist in York
Ariyana’s therapeutic work draws on a broad range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT).
She also uses Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed practice, psychodynamic and relational approaches, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and creative therapeutic approaches.
Central to all of her work is an attention to how past and present relationships shape the way we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others.
Experienced Adults & Child Psychologist
Ariyana has worked across a range of NHS settings throughout her career, including early intervention in psychosis, older adult and memory services, neurodevelopmental services supporting children and adolescents with ADHD and autism, OCD services, long-term health conditions, complex bereavement, paediatrics, and both inpatient and outpatient contexts.
She has also supported families of those going through serious physical health concerns and treatment, including work in diabetes services.
Beyond her clinical work, Ariyana has collaborated with the European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders, contributes to teaching on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate programme at the University of Leeds, and has published research on acquired brain injury and the social impact of university on students.
She has delivered mental health workshops in schools for both young people and staff, established an eco-walking group connecting people with the outdoors through eco-therapy, and is involved in EDI mentorship schemes.
Personal Background & Path to Psychology
Having moved frequently during her childhood and experienced different cultures along the way, Ariyana developed a lifelong curiosity about people, how we relate to one another, and the patterns that emerge across different relationships and contexts.
Her path was also shaped by personal experience of loved ones facing health difficulties, which gave her a direct understanding of the importance of psychological support not just for the individual but for the whole family system around them.
Outside of work, Ariyana spends most of her weekends in nature, attempting hikes and, by her own admission, regularly getting lost on the way home. She also enjoys baking and cooking, with results that range from impressive to genuinely hazardous.
