About Clement Boutry (Therapist for York Therapy Clinic)
Clement Boutry is one of our experienced relationship and psychosexual therapists at York Therapy Clinic, working with individuals and couples across a broad range of sexual, relational, and intimacy concerns.
He brings a collaborative and inclusive approach to his work, offering clients a confidential space in which to explore difficulties that can often feel too personal or too stigmatised to raise elsewhere. His aim is to help people build confidence, understanding, and more fulfilling connections with themselves and others.
Clement works with a wide range of presentations, including vaginismus, erectile difficulties, rapid ejaculation, low desire, and anxiety or pain connected to sexual activity.
He also supports clients navigating desire mismatch within relationships, communication challenges, questions of identity and sexual preferences, and difficulties rooted in low self-esteem or shame.
Experience and Specialisms
Clement has built his clinical experience across a range of specialist settings. As part of his training, he works with Relate in the NHS, supporting individuals and couples with desire mismatch, communication difficulties, intimacy concerns, sexual anxiety, and shame-based presentations.
Alongside this, he provides therapy through Controlling Chemsex, working predominantly with gay men experiencing the emotional, relational, and behavioural impacts of chemsex, trauma histories, and compulsive patterns.
This work reflects his commitment to inclusive, non-judgmental practice with clients whose concerns may fall outside mainstream therapy provision.
His background in counselling and bereavement support has shaped a grounded, compassionate approach to working with people through distress, loss, and identity-related challenges, bringing a depth of sensitivity to the more complex presentations he encounters in psychosexual work.
Psychosexual Therapy in York
Clement’s therapeutic approach brings together specialist psychosexual techniques, CBT-informed strategies, and attachment-aware relational work. He also creates space for clients to explore questions of meaning, identity, and confidence, understanding that sexual and relational wellbeing is rarely a purely physical matter.
Across all his work, Clement draws on trauma-aware principles and a steady, empathic way of engaging, helping clients identify unhelpful patterns, develop clarity, and move towards lasting change.
Background & Approach to Therapy
Clement has long been interested in the inner lives of others and in creating conditions where people feel genuinely able to speak without fear of judgement.
During his counsellor training, he became increasingly aware of how many people carry sexual and intimacy difficulties in silence, partly because these concerns are still widely treated as taboo. He felt strongly that accessible, specialist support in this area was needed, and that psychosexual therapy offered a meaningful way to provide it.
Growing up in France and having since built a life in the UK, Clement brings a thoughtful cross-cultural perspective to his practice. Outside of work, he can usually be found rollerskating, learning bass guitar, or spending time with his dog.
