About Abbie Stanwix (CBT Therapist for York Therapy Clinic)
Abbie Stanwix is one of our skilled CBT therapists at York Therapy Clinic, specialising in working with people with trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety and a range of other problems.
She is also skilled in working with those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
With additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and therapy for complex trauma, Abbie offers a comprehensive and tailored approach to therapy.
Abbie’s therapeutic approach is formulation-driven and bespoke, creating effective Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) treatments that helps people overcome their problems and support their mental well-being.

Abbie has significant experience working across various mental health settings, including primary and secondary care services, crisis teams, and specialist mental health services.
Abbie specialises in providing CBT therapy for trauma and PTSD in York, as well as specialist Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for depression, anxiety, and a range of other problems.
As well as these problems, Abbie is also skilled in working with people diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and therapy and counselling for long-term physical health conditions.
Abbie’s role as an ASD and trauma champion also means that she provides expert support to other colleagues working with these complex conditions.
Her career has also seen her work within a number of NHS trusts, where Abbie gained experience in providing therapy, as well as areas such as crisis management, behavioural planning, and psychological distress rehabilitation.

Her dedication to understanding how individuals experience and process trauma drives her commitment to helping clients find effective ways to cope and thrive.
Outside of her therapy practice, Abbie enjoys CrossFit and competing in CrossFit events, with hopes of one day qualifying for the CrossFit Games.
She also shares her home with a lively sausage dog named Winnie, who brings joy and companionship to her busy life.
