About Lucy Greig (Couples Counsellor for York Therapy Clinic)

Lucy Greig is one of our skilled couples and relationship counsellors at York Therapy Clinic, offering compassionate and evidence-based support for couples, individuals, and families facing a range of relationship issues.

She is dedicated to creating a safe, non-judgmental space for couples counselling in York, where couples can explore and work through issues such as communication difficulties, trust rebuilding, parenting, and restoring emotional connections.

Lucy is one of the few therapists to have trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, an innovative new therapy that looks at the individual in terms of the “parts” that they bring to their relationships and to their own mental health.

Through her work with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds, Lucy has developed a nuanced understanding of the complexities within relationships, bringing sensitivity to the unique needs of each individual and couple she supports.

Experience in Relationship Counselling

Lucy trained with the couples counselling organisation, Relate, and has also completed a Master’s degree in Relationship Studies at Doncaster University Centre.

Her counselling experience includes over several hundred hours of placements working with students at Selby College, couples at Relate Cross Pennine, and through private practice.

Lucy’s journey into counselling was influenced by a series of personal experiences, leading her to a career where she could offer meaningful support to others and help them overcome their relationship difficulties.

She also actively maintains her skillset through ongoing CPD and has recently completed the SANDS Counsellor Training Programme, which equipped her to work in specialist areas of baby loss and support bereaved families.

Couples Counselling York

Alongside couples therapy, Lucy offers both individual counselling and family counselling, providing clients with the resources to navigate various life challenges.

Through her work, she prioritises helping clients improve communication, manage conflicts, and rebuild trust, promoting lasting positive changes in their relationships.

Lucy’s work with Relate and The Wellbeing Therapy Hut has given her extensive experience with couples from various cultural, neurodiverse, and gender backgrounds, further strengthening her ability to support couples with empathy and skill.

In her free time, Lucy values self-care and enjoys creative activities, spending time with close friends or watching football, and supporting her family in their games.
